Hello from St. Columba’s School community and
welcome to our website. St. Columba’s is a Catholic Primary
School for boys and girls, Kinder to Year 6. Our school has a
proud tradition of educating children, for we were established as a
parish primary school in 1898 by the Sisters of St. Joseph. Over a
century later we continue to keep alive the Gospel message, provide a
quality education and develop in our students a love of learning.
St. Columba’s offers a pleasant learning
environment with air-conditioned classrooms, within spacious and
attractive grounds. Apart from educating our students in the
faith, we place a strong emphasis on literacy, numeracy, information
skills and the development of creative and sporting
programs. Specialist teachers offer programs in English as a
Second Language, Special Needs, Gifted Education, Reading Support,
Instrumental Music and Physical Education. All classrooms are networked
and have internet and email access.
Our staff demonstrates a strong commitment to developing
educational programs of work which challenge and stimulate our
students. Pastoral care is evidenced in the way in which students are
respected, nurtured and cared for in our school. Our school motto
"Truth and Tolerance” challenges us to value the individual and
respect the rights of others. We are fortunate to have a Josephite
sister as part of our community, working in Reading Support.
Partnership with parents and parish is valued and
encouraged at St. Columba’s. Our parish priest takes an
active interest in the school and collaborates with our staff in
producing meaningful liturgies across the grades. Our Parents
& Friends Association demonstrates a keen interest in our
school, providing financial support for resources and opportunity for
social interaction amongst families and friends.
We invite you to visit our website regularly and keep in
touch with our progress throughout the year
Fran Stewart, Principal.
